Special Programs: Cell Phones for Safe Seniors Program
|
Stop! Don't throw away
those old cell phones
The "Cell Phones for Safe Seniors
Program" has proven to be
successful.
The cell phones, properly maintained
and charged, and which only can be
used to dial 911 in an emergency situation,
are being distributed free to any senior
who desires one.
Under this program, the phones
cannot be used for any other purpose,
including personal calls.
There are still some phones available
on a first-come-first served basis and
may be obtained by calling Rose Kristie
at the Center, 877-5131 or Dowin at 874-9213.
In addition, anyone wishing to donate
any usable cell phones, including the
charger and accessories, may drop
them off at the Center where they
will be processed for distribution.
The phones can be carried in a car
on one's person and help to provide
a sense of security as an aid in
an emergency, Dowin said.
