New club officers installed and feted at April 11 Luncheon

Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr. installed the Milford Senior Center’s newly elected club

officers at an Invitation Only ceremony Friday, April 11. Executive Director Janice M.

Jackson welcomed the new officers and guests and commended the outgoing officers for

a job well done and thanked them for their loyalty and dedication to their posts. Congratulations

were also extended to the new officers who were wished a healthy and successful new term. 

The Milford Senior Band led by Linda Whittaker presented a musical program. Staff

members assisted in serving the guests a luncheon catered by Lassie’s Restaurant.

Rent Relief Program Begins May 15
Lisa Diamond Graham, Executive Director of Human Services, announced today the Rent Relief Program will begin on May 15, 2008.
As in previous years the agency staff will take applications at Senior Housing sites, as follows:

Viscount Drive          Tues. June 3, 2008          9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Foran Towers            Thurs. June 5, 2008         9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Jepson Drive……    Tues. June 10, 2008        9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Jagoe Court              Thurs. June 12,2008        9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
DeMaio Drive …      Tues. June 17, 2008        9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
River Park Apts…    Thurs June 19, 2008        9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Saranor Apts.           Tues. June 24, 2008        9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

 
The Rent Relief Program is for elderly renters, or renters under the age of 65 who receive Social Security Disability benefits. The maximum income for single applicants is $29, 800, and for married couples is $36,500.00. Applicants should bring all 2007 rent and utility receipts and all 2007 income verification including Form SSA-1099 and 2007 Federal Tax Return if filed. No appointments will be made for the above dates. For information, or for an office appointment on another date, call 783-3253 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday trough Friday. Applications by appointments will be taken at the Milford Human Services office through Sept. 15, 2008.

 

Gospel Choir Plans Patriotic Concert 

The Senior Gospel Choir will present its annual Patriotic Concert at City Hall on Memorial Day Weekend Sat. May 
24 at 7 p.m. and Sun. May 25 at 4 p.m. According to Choir Director Jan Baldwin, highlights of the
concert include a flag - folding ceremony and a salute to the Armed Forces featuring a selection of patriotic favorites.
“The special program is one of many planned for the Memorial Day week-end,” said Baldwin. “This concert
offers a special finale for your friends and family,” she added.
Tickers are $6.00 and are available at the door.

Clean Your Closets 
Jo Jockel, manager of the Center’s consignment shop, is currently looking for donations or consignments of new or used Spring and Summer clothing in good condition.
Store opens at 9:30 a.m. daily.

   Procedure for inclement weather!

General Topics If you're not sure whether the Senior Center is open or closed due to bad weather, always listen to radio station WICC (600 am) or watch channel 8 for closures. If the Milford schools are closed, the Senior Center is closed too. If there is a delayed opening, the Senior Center opens at 10:30 a.m., although transportation and other programs may be affected.
